FAQ'S
How does it work?
PDO Threads are hypodermic needles that contain absorbable polydioxanone (PDO) sutures, which play an important role in this non-surgical facelift procedure. PDO threads are used for cardiothoracic surgery so are one of the safest materials to insert in the body. With the absorption capabilities of these, PDO threads dissolve within the body after 4-6 months following your non-surgical face-lifting session. Threads can be used in many areas such as the cheeks, brows, neck and more.
There are two types of PDO Threads. The first uses smooth threads, creating a mesh under the skin. This mesh serves as the foundation for new collagen production. This technique tightens the skin naturally from within.
The second type uses barbed threads to deliver a more dramatic and immediate result. The PDO sutures have ‘barbs’ that provide a grip underneath the skin. The sutures are inserted the same way, except that they can be pulled in one or two directions, creating an instant skin repositioning.
What can I expect during the treatment?
PDO Threads are a noninvasive treatment with no downtime – you’ll be able to resume normal activity the next day. We’ll numb the area with local anesthesia before inserting the PDO threads under the skin using a very fine needle. You will see results immediately.
What are the results?
Your results are firmer, tighter, smoother skin. PDO Threads typically last for up to one year. As new collagen is created following your treatment, you’ll continue to see even more improved results. After about 3 months, the threads dissolve and all that’s left is visibly tighter, lifted skin.
Is it safe?
Yes, PDO Threads are completely safe. Following your treatment, you may see a dark line where the threads were placed. Any slight bruising, pink skin, or visible thread lines will disappear in about a week. Results vary from person to person. Other minor side effects are rare, but may include: infection, bruising, swelling, tenderness, numbness, and slight asymmetry which will resolve over a few weeks after the treatment.
